This week we have a tune bearing the name of Morton’s famous band the Red Hot Peppers. This one was not actually from the first sessions under that name but a bit later on after his move to New York when the band was enlarged slightly and played in a bit more of a New York late 20s stomp style. Its a nice quick tune with a lot of confusing breaks!
Secondly is Boogaboo, a bluesy number with some great clarinet lines by Omer Simeon on the original record. Also an inexplicable whistling sound effect which David has faithfully recreated for us!
More on the way soon as ever, though we’re finally nearing the end here and we’ll have an end-of-year surprise to wrap it up in December so stay tuned!
