After a very productive year getting our repertoire and sound together, the Dime Notes‘ debut album has been released on Lejazzetal! The band grew out of a duo I had with my good friend, clarinetist Dave Horniblow, and expanded to a quartet with the addition of Dave Kelbie’s peerless rhythm guitar playing and the great innovative slap style of Tom Wheatley on bass. We recorded at the amazing MasterChord studio in North London on a brand new 9-foot Steinway grand and we couldn’t be happier with the sound of the album. The repertoire ranges from stomps and “Spanish Tinge” compositions of Jelly Roll Morton to blueses from King Oliver and Sidney Bechet and even an original of mine. Here’s some samples:
Our CD release is next Thursday the 24th of November at Kansas Smitty’s club in East London, and the album is available to purchase from the links below in any and all formats!
