The Ocular Concern
The Ocular Concern is a new collective trio of some of the more unique voices on the Portland jazz scene. The group alternates smoothly between intricate compositions and collective improvisation. Its unique instrumentation of electric piano, electric guitar and drums immediately creates a distinctive sound which lends itself to the varied repertoire of the group. Original music influenced strongly by minimalist classical music, Zimbabwean mbira, and Eastern European folk music blends with covers of songs from John Hollenbeck and Rudresh Mahanthappa to the Kinks. ”Indie-jazz” at its most eclectic!

Stephen Pancerev, drums|Dan Duval, guitar|Andrew Oliver, electric piano
