SOS Tour Coming Up!

So next week is the much-anticipated (at least by the band members) 2009 Spring Tour with Sound for the Organization of Society, a fantatic though somewhat audience-polarizing group I started with my former roommates Ingo and Kevin in New Orleans in 2005 (here’s picture of us 3 in San Francisco last year):

Thought I would spice this up with some pictures. Anyhow, we became frustrated with the “square”-ness of the Loyola University New Orleans noon concert series (which was mandatory for music majors) and decided to sign up for one and perform some weird music synchronized to a clock with piano, keyboard, 2 drummers (Ingo and Kevin), bass, guitar (actually that was added later when a strange guitarist friend of ours just showed up to the gig with his instrument), and 2 saxes. It was a great success and, despite our better judgment, we’ve been performing and recording ever since.
Right after Katrina, I went back to NOLA to play on our first album, “India and Africa“, and now many of the original band members live in L.A. and Portland (and we’ve added and subtracted a few people since then), so we (without economic preconceptions) embarked on a second recording project in 2007 in Portland, a west coast tour last August, and are now releasing the second album, “Poem of the Underground” (on a real label, no less!), along with another (albeit shorter) west coast tour next week. PHEW!
For fun, here is a chronicle of pictures of us in 2-line formations throughout the years:

Word of Mouth Studios, New Orleans, 2006

Heavywood Studios, Lake Oswego, OR, 2007

Santa Cruz, CA, 2008
So, we’ll be hitting Sacramento, San Fran, Ashland, Eugene, and Portland. Here’s the schedule. Hope to see lots of people at our shows! More info at http://www.sfosmusic.com, including exciting samples from our new album…
