Not about canyons

Posted on | February 13, 2009 | No Comments

Yes, I like this picture of Waimea Canyon I took last year in Kauai so I thought it would provide a pleasing image for the top of this thing.

The Portland Jazz Festival is underway, yesterday I took in a whopping 4 fantastic bands in 6 hours of music-listening.  Quite an experience.  More on that later in the week.

Meanwhile, the Portland Jazz Composers Ensemble‘s Jazz Festival concert is tomorrow night at the Old Church, be sure to come by and check it out!  New compositions from many great people including Andrew Durkin , Sam Howard , Dan DuvalKen Ollis , Reed Walsmith , and Kyle Williams.

And while you’re at it, check this out, it’s an album by a Zimbabwean band called Shangara.  Don’t hesitate to put this one on your hard drive in case it gets taken down at some point, it’s some of the best African music I have heard…
